Honda Signs Contract with Egemin for AGV Transport System
Honda Europe and Egemin Automation recently signed an agreement for an Automated Guided Vehicle System to be installed within Honda’s production and warehouse environment. Founded in 1963, Honda Belgium was the first production plant of the Japanese automobile concern outside Japan. The Belgium Honda plant specializes in bumper spraying for after market parts and is building a brand new distribution center which Egemin has been entrusted with the engineering, construction and installation of an AGV system that automates spare parts transport.
The transport system will consist of forklift AGVs with on-board E’nsor® navigation software. The vehicles receive transport commands from Egemin's E’tricc® management software that communicates with Honda's production system.
This project represents the second order from Honda for Egemin in very short time. Earlier this year Honda of America contracted Egemin to implement an AGV system for the transport of containers loaded with components in the parts center of Troy, Ohio. The Honda plant of East Liberty, Ohio features a fleet of 67 Egemin AGVs that supply parts to the Civic and Element assembly lines. view photo

Bridgestone Places Order to Retrofit Existing AGV System
Bridgestone's state-of-the-art tire manufacturing facility located in Tennessee has employed Egemin to replace its 15 year old vehicle controls with the latest, most advanced AGV controls technology available on the market today. The transition between old and new controls will be done without interruption to current manufacturing practices and needs. To do this, Egemin will upgrade a few AGVs at a time and insert them back into the system allowing the newly upgraded AGVs to co-mingle with the ones yet needing upgrades. This process will continue until all AGVs have received new controls packages.
In 2006, Bridgestone upgraded their external AGV control system, which utilizes Egemin’s E'tricc® (AGV Transport Intelligent Control Center) running on a robust Windows XP platform. This upgrade allows Bridgestone increased functionality and flexibility than was possible with the previous control system.
Bridgestone’s original AGV system, installed by Egemin in 1992, has been running 24/7 ever since.

Commissioning of AGV system in Denmark
The installation of the automated guided vehicle system at Dinex in Middelfart (Denmark) has been successfully completed last April. Dinex manufactures exhaust systems for trucks, busses, industrial machines, etc. Due to the enormous expansion of its activities Dinex decided to invest in extending its storage capacity and optimizing its production. Dinex engaged Danish Langebaek Logistik as logistic consultant for the entire project. Langebaek chose for Egemin to take care of the internal transport in the production plant by means of automated guided vehicles.
The AGV system installed at Dinex transports exhaust components from the warehouse to the various production stations. The pallets with finished goods are either transported back to the warehouse or directly brought to the despatch zone. The system consists of four laser guided Fork Lift Vehicle (FLV) AGVs that receive commands from the E'tricc® system through the plant's wireless network. In turn, E'tricc® (Egemin Transport Intelligent Control Center) continuously communicates with the Dinex host system.
