    3d character turn the key to savingsProMat 2011 has come to a close. Egemin launched the new Hybrid Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) which was well received by ProMat attendees and the media. On Tuesday, March 22, a Press Conference was held to officially launch the Hybrid AGV. Nearly a hundred were in attendance including notable press contacts from Modern Materials Handling, Material Handling & Logistics, Forklift Action and many others. Additionally, high profile companies such as Sick, Hawker, MCFA, Cisco were present. During the press conference, titled Hybrid Forklift Technology Drives Bottom-Line Cost-Savings, Mark Stevenson, VP of New Business Development for Egemin, eloquently spoke about the benefits companies can and are experiencing by "turning the key to savings" with the new hybrid AGV. “There is no need to discard the familiar and functional forklift,” according to Stevenson. While delivering all of the automatic functionality of an AGV, by simply turning the KEY to “Manual”, an operator can drive the vehicle manually with all manual lift truck functions and then place it back into fully automatic laser guidance mode. “It’s not about walking the ProMat show floor and looking for every new and technologically advanced AGV feature…it’s about halting the exponential rise of labor and benefit costs using simple technology. Every C-level executive knows the KEY: Less is more…more supply chain flexibility, better margins, eliminating product damage, better adoption. Senior management executives are not focused on bells and whistles of AGVS, they are appropriately focused on bottom-line cost-savings," insists Stevenson.

    During The press conference Egemin announced that Mitsubishi Caterpillar Forklift America (MCFA) was the supplier of the base truck used in the hybrid automatic guided vehicle.
